Neuromuscular Bodywork Therapy

Neuromuscular therapy can help individuals who experience biomechanical dysfunction or postural imbalances. These are often symptoms of a deeper problems.

Neuromuscular Massage Therapy is used to locate and release muscle spasms, reduce or eliminate trigger points that cause referred pain, restore posture, restore flexibility, rebuild strength in injured tissues and assist venous and lymphatic flow.

Athletes and sports enthusiasts get great benefits from neuromuscular bodywork. For example this bodywork can restore range-of-motion (ROM) to the shoulder-arm complex allowing for better sports performance. Perfect for avid tennis and golf players.

• If you want to reduce stress and/or pain and aches or improve your range-of-motion you will need to actively participate in your therapy. By following my instructions you will be moving your body (arms, legs etc.) while I work deep to stretch your muscles and tendons. This is a very rewarding experience and my clients love it!

This technique is the most popular treatment involving a mixture of Swedish massage therapy and neuromuscular therapy in order to address specific areas of pain and accumulated tension.

The treatment involves focusing on relaxation along with gaining the benefits of releasing deep hyper contracted muscular tissue.

Typically, the majority of clients have complaints of neck pain, shoulder pain, lower back pain or headaches which will be specifically addressed during this therapy session.

The MyoKinesthetic™ (my-oh-kin-a-stet-ic) System is a way to treat the cause of pain, the nervous system, in a specific way via the muscles.

After client evaluation the MyoKinesthetic™ System protocol calls for a specific treatment that depends on the nerve root and the muscles that it innervates. The system groups these muscles according to their nerve root innervation, covering every nerve root and peripheral nerve that deals with movement.

These treatments are performed on you by a Licensed Massage Therapist who is MyoKinesthetic™ System Certified. You remain fully clothed. No lotions are necessary.

What are Myokinesthetic™ System Treatments?

The MyoKinesthetic™ System Treatments go after the cause of your pain, which is the nervous system.

After evaluating a client using subjective information, muscle testing and postural analysis I am able to determine which nerve root is the cause of muscle pain. I will perform a specific routine designed to stimulate all of the muscles innervated by the problem nerve root.

These treatments consist of the therapist taking the client into a passive stretch while stimulating specific muscles using compression and pin-and-stretch techniques. Next the client is instructed to move in a specific way as to actively stretch and lengthen muscles while the therapist works stimulating the muscles.

For example, if we determine through subjective information and muscle testing that C6 nerve is the source of the problem we go to the specific protocol for C6. We know that C6 innervates 41 different muscles in the upper body bilaterally. With the MyoKinesthetic™ System, we manually stimulate muscles while performing active and passive stretch, those 41 muscles and only those 41 muscles so that ALL of those muscles will relax and stop sending pain signals down the C6 nerve. The results are that pain is reduced/eliminated, the muscles relax and stay relaxed for a longer time frame.

The ultimate goal is to get to the cause of pain, which is the nervous system. Muscles can impinge on nerves, causing pain.

To obtain consistent, repeatable results, you must be specific. With the MyoKinesthetic™ System, a therapist stimulates only the specific muscles innervated by one nerve root. A treatment takes only about 10- 25 minutes. The results are immediate.
