Florida's licensed massage therapists, often referred to as LMTS, have met specific licensure requirements to ensure their ability "to practice safely. Massage therapists have completed specialized training in anatomy, physiology, hydrotherapy, and the basic types of massage. They have also passed a national examination that tests their massage therapy knowledge and skills.
What are the benefits of massage therapy? Most people know that massage therapy is a proven and effective means of relaxation and stress relief. Massage therapy can also provide a number of therapeutic benefits, including:
• Reducing Stress and Tension
• Improving Flexibility
• Increasing Endorphins-the Body's Natural Painkillers
• Assisting in Recovery from Sports Activities and Injuries
• Strengthening the Immune System
• Improving Circulation Problems
• Alleviating Chronic and Temporary Pain
There are many types of massage. A licensed therapist will be able to help you discover the type that benefits you the most.
Some popular types of massage:
Swedish Massage: The most common type of massage; given to relax, reduce stress, and increase circulation and range of motion.
Deep Tissue Massage: A massage with firmer pressure that works deeply into the muscles and connective tissues to release chronic aches and pains.
NeuromuscularTherapy: Used to stop spasms and pain by applying pressure to specific points in the muscles that are painfully irritated (trigger points).
Sports Massage: To help prevent athletic injury, keep the body flexible, and assist in the recovery process.
Reflexology: To help improve circulation and relaxation. Thumb pressure on specific reflex points of the feet and hands stimulates corresponding areas in other parts of the body.
Chair Massage: Massage given while you are fully clothed and seated in a special portable chair.
Swedish / Relaxation Massage
Swedish massage is one of the most common and well-known massage techniques, Swedish massage is a vigorous system of treatment designed to energize the body by stimulating circulation.
Swedish massage uses a combination of kneading, rolling, vibrational, percussive and tapping movements with the application of cream or oil to reduce friction on the skin.
The many benefits of Swedish massage may include generalized relaxation, stress reduction, improved circulation, and reduced swelling from injury.
Although Swedish massage is a very relaxing and comfortable massage it is not deep and pressure ranges from light to moderate.
Therapeutic Neuromuscular Bodywork
Neuromuscular therapy can help individuals who experience biomechanical dysfunction or postural imbalances. These are often symptoms of a deeper problems.
Neuromuscular Massage Therapy is used to locate and release muscle spasms, reduce or eliminate trigger points that cause referred pain, restore posture, restore flexibility, rebuild strength in injured tissues and assist venous and lymphatic flow.
Athletes and sports enthusiasts get great benefits from neuromuscular bodywork. For example this bodywork can restore range-of-motion (ROM) to the shoulder-arm complex allowing for better sports performance. Perfect for avid tennis and golf players.
If you want to reduce stress and/or pain and aches or improve your range-of-motion you will need to actively participate in your therapy. By following my instructions you will be moving your body (arms, legs etc.) while I work deep to stretch your muscles and tendons. This is a very rewarding experience and my clients love it!

Stress Relief with Deep Tissue Massage
This technique is the most popular treatment involving a mixture of Swedish
massage therapy and neuromuscular therapy in order to address specific
areas of pain and accumulated tension.
The treatment involves focusing on relaxation along with gaining the benefits of releasing
deep hyper contracted muscular tissue.
Typically, the majority of clients have complaints of neck pain, shoulder pain, lower back pain or
headaches which will be specifically addressed during this therapy session.
Chair Massage / Onsite or in office
I can relieve your tight aching muscles of the neck, shoulders and back without the need to dress down like in a table massage. 30-minutes usually does the job. Deep penetration of hypertonic muscles and trigger points are possible using this technique. I offer this service at my office and in your location.
For on site corporate massage it is customary to work on as many employees as possible. This massage is a 10 to 20 minute procedure that uses acupressure massage to the muscles of the neck, shoulders, arms, hands and back. Usually performed weekly at your place of employment or at conferences, conventions and other events.
Performed on-site, the client remains fully clothed seated in a specially designed massage chair while I work the upper body - head, neck, . No oils or lotions are used.
The benefits are improved mental well-being, reduced stress, reduced muscular tension, reduced aches and pains,
reduced hypertension, enhances mental clarity and alertness and increases creativity.
The person receiving the massage sits comfortably, fully clothed, on a specially designed portable massage chair. The therapist uses a variety of massage techniques to ease tension and stress, helping the client to achieve a relaxed but alert mental state.
By incorporating a regular chair massage clients find greater production through relaxation that actually energizes the body. Fatigue is eased and vitality returns. Production at work is best when your employees feel their best! Give your employees the treatment they deserve.

Shiatsu - Healing with Acupressure
Shiatsu uses Acupressure on specific meridians or "Energy Pathways" at specific points. Shiatsu is not unlike Acupuncture except that the practioner does not use needles.
Used to balance the body and "Chi" Shiatsu can relieve physical and emotional pain.
Shiatsu can be used to treat conditions of the various organs and their many symptoms.
Shiatsu performed over several sessions will leave you in a healthier state.
Traditional Thai Massage
The theoretical basis of Thai massage is the existence of the "energy body," which includes 72,000 "sen" or energy lines through which life force flows. In Thai massage we address ten main sen using compressions, pressure on specific points along these lines, and stretches to release blockages to restore the free flow of life energy. These stretches, as you will observe, benefit the body in many ways. You may think to yourself, "why, what a nice way to lengthen the hamstrings," and you would be correct, but the intent of the work is to facilitate the movement of energy. The fact that the hamstrings get a good stretch is an incidental benefit.
Thai massage is a branch of Traditional Medicine of Thailand, which also includes herbal treatments, nutrition, and spiritual practices. The focus of my work is exclusively the manual manipulation that we refer to as Thai massage. At one time, Thai massage was used as a medical modality for the treatment of gallstones, liver disease, whooping cough, paralysis and even daydreaming, to name only a few. There is a specific protocol culled from the three-hour routine (I offer a 90-minute routine.) for each of the ten sen to address disorders according to the area of the body affected. With the current availability of modern medicine, few patients seek out Thai massage for the treatment of serious illness or disease, but it is a popular and valuable modality for the treatment of sore muscles, joint limitations and other soft tissue dysfunction. Many recipients seek out Thai massage for its restorative qualities, reporting increased energy and a feeling of balance and well-being.
Thai massage is performed fully clothed on a nice firm mat.

Plants contain complex and powerful substances known as essential oils. These are aromatic liquids derived from shrubs, flowers, trees, roots, bushes, and seeds. These distinctive components defend plants from insects, harsh environmental conditions, and disease. They are also vital for a plant to grow, live, evolve, and adapt to its surroundings. Referred to as the essence of the plant, pure essential oils not only protect the plant but also determine its aroma.
Essential oils have been used throughout time dating back to 4500 BC. From perfumes and aromatherapy to cooking and medicinal purposes, essential oils have been used in everyday life for centuries. In modern days, research shows that pure essential oils can provide similar benefits to humans and animals that they give to plants.
Many oils, touted as essential oils, are derived with harsh chemicals, diluted, or copied and produced in a lab. Cheap copies bring cheap results and have the potential to be toxic. Therefore, it is imperative to take great care in choosing high-quality essential oils.
Young Living offers pure, unadulterated essential oils, essential oil blends, and oil-enhanced products. At Young Living, in-house and independent laboratory testing shows that our essential oils meet high industry standards that qualify them as "therapeutic grade." This means that health professionals choose them for promoting health and wellness. For the Rain Drop therapy I use pure Young Living essential oils.
Combining 9 pure essential oils in rain drop fashion to the spine and applied in a specific order and in a specific way results in "Powerful Therapeutic" effects to the body and mind. Oils used: Valor, oregano, thyme, basil, cypress, wintergreen, marjoram, peppermint, aroma seiz.
The MyoKinesthetic System for Pain Relief
The MyoKinesthetic System goes after the cause of your pain, which is the nervous system.
Treatments are performed by an LMT and certified Myokinesthetic System Therapist using a treatment protocol developed by Dr. Mike Uriarte, DC. of Shawnee Mission KS.
The treatments are performed without lotions or oils. The client may remain fully clothed or dressed down. This technique is an interactive massage therapy treatment which calls on the client to move muscles (move arms, legs, neck, head, feet, hands, fingers, toes etc.) in a specific way as the musles are stimulated by the therapist. This system reduces and removes pain (headaches too) in about 10-25 minutes depending on the nerve source.
Myokinesthetic System Therapy is Specific and gets consistent repeatable results.
Active Muscle Toning Enhancement Training Therapy - AMTET
In my years of research as a Certified Personal Trainer and Licensed Massage Therapist I have discovered, and am continuing to improve on a new concept of specific SPORTS MASSAGE therapy techniques that are administered during and after strength training sessions. The results are improved muscle toning, an increase in strength and visual muscle definition improvement.
Muscle recovery time is reduced and delayed onset of muscle soreness (DOMS) is reduced.
Combined with strength training, proper nutrition and rest, AMTET results in DRAMATIC muscle definition. It shows!
Those who may benefit from AMTET are:
People who have been working out for months and are not seeing much improvement in muscle development.
Anyone wanting that "cut" look in the arms, abs, buttocks and/or legs and is willing to work for it.
In addition AMTET helps women who have relatively low to moderate body fat composition and would like their arms, legs or buttocks to look firmer and have more muscle definition ... A toned and fit look.
Of course, Body builders can benefit from this also.
Call me for an evaluation, I know of no one else using these methods of body improvement.
